Mixed up DVD

A few days ago, my dad rented Hotal for Dogs from redbox thing that usually have at Krogers, and took the movie back, but when he came home, we found out that we still had the actual DVD. It's really weird, cause we're not sure why the redbox excepted the case without the DVD, so now we're trying to get it back...............
